Pyth DAO "100% Rule": what it is and what it means for PYTH

Pyth announced on Oct 8, 2026 that every dollar the Pyth DAO receives from Pyth products now goes to the PYTH Reserve and is used to buy PYTH on the open market. The previous limit was one third of the DAO's non-PYTH balance. The size of the buying depends on DAO revenue, which the sources do not quantify.

What the rule is

The announcement says:

  • 100% of what the DAO receives from Pyth products goes to open-market PYTH purchases, up from one third of its non-PYTH balance.

  • One standing authorization replaces the monthly vote.

  • The guardrails stay the same. Every acquisition is published onchain and reported monthly.

Pyth on X put it as "Every dollar the Pyth DAO receives now buys PYTH each month". SolanaFloor reported that the DAO approved it. The Reserve holds 42M PYTH today, per Pyth.

Market now

Binance shows PYTH at $0.0791, up 11.2% over 24h. Other exchanges are close, from about $0.0788 to $0.0791. GeckoTerminal shows a market cap of about $622M and 24h DEX volume of about $1.5M. The sources do not tie the price move to the news.

What it means for the token

  • PYTH gets a rules-based buyer. Buying no longer depends on a monthly vote or a one-third cap.

  • Pyth's Q3 recap reported $11.49M active ARR, up 86.5% quarter over quarter (Q3 recap). As an illustration only, not a result: if all of that reached the DAO, it would be about $11.5M a year of buying. Against a market cap of about $622M, that is roughly 1.8% a year. ARR is not the same as DAO receipts.

  • DEX volume is about $1.5M a day, so purchases could be a visible share of liquidity if revenue keeps growing.

What the sources do not establish

They do not give the vote result, the start date of purchases, the buyback wallet, or the exact amount the DAO receives.
