A Circle shareholder, reported as Joel Greenberg, sued President Donald Trump and World Liberty Financial, accusing them of illegally profiting from more than $2 billion in UAE-linked crypto deals, WuBlockchain reports citing Bloomberg.
The suit points to two transactions: a $500 million sale of a 49% World Liberty stake and a $2 billion Binance investment settled in World Liberty’s USD1 stablecoin, alleging a violation of the Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause through profits tied to a foreign government.
It claims unfair competition harmed Circle investors and seeks return of the alleged illegal profits plus damages. Circle says it is not involved in the suit, while World Liberty denies the allegations.
A separate account claims the complaint ties the money flows to UAE figures around AI-chip approvals and a conditionally approved bank co-owned by Trump interests, and names Steve Witkoff and DT Marks DEFI LLC, but that version is an author’s summary, not the complaint text itself (post).
The White House is reported to call the case frivolous. The full complaint and court docket were not available in the sources reviewed, so the plaintiff’s exact UAE counterparty names and filing venue remain unconfirmed.
