Bitcoin ($BTC) swept the September lows near $82.5K on 8 Oct 2026. This covers what happened, why, and the levels analysts are watching

Price is about $83.1K on major exchanges, down roughly 0.9% over 24h. Binance spot shows $83,096 and Kraken $83,043. It bounced off the sweep but has not yet taken back $83K with conviction. Analysts call the next move critical.

What happened

Per @Wealthmanager, BTC swept the lows around $82,500. @DaanCrypto described it as a sweep and liquidity grab of the September lows. Earlier he had flagged that the $85K support was lost and that equal lows near $83K were the level to watch. @CryptoMichNL had expected a sweep of the recent lows and said it "should be the end of this correction". One post cites an intraday low of $82,776 and another $82,444, so the exact low varies by source.

Why it moved

The sources point to a macro-driven flush, with leveraged longs hit hardest.

  • Per xfidottop, Brent crude broke $101 and the US 10-year yield hit about 5.34%. Hawkish Fed minutes added to the pressure, and BTC failed at resistance near $87K.

  • Liquidations were reported at about $547M to $714M, mostly longs, depending on the source (fredramon, cashcatdotbot).

  • Per Blockcastcc, FOMC minutes lifted December rate-hike odds to 70.5%.

  • CoinMarketCap, citing Arkham, reported that the US government moved $470M of BTC, WBTC and USDT to likely Coinbase Prime deposit addresses.

  • GOJIPOWER reported a spot ETF net outflow of $277.2M on 7 Oct.

  • Partly offsetting this, Robinhood bought $25M of BTC for its balance sheet, and Strive added 2,000 BTC at an average of $84,422.

Key levels per analysts

  • Reclaim: Wealthmanager says a reclaim of $82,500 followed by a strong bounce would be very bullish and would suggest the sweep was a deviation. Daan wants bulls to retake $83K and hold it.

  • Downside: Daan says that if price just dribbles lower, targets should be adjusted down. His main high-timeframe levels are $75K and $72K.

  • Support and resistance: Blockcastcc cites support at $81.3K to $83K and resistance at $84K to $86.5K. tradingdiff sees liquidity at $82K below and $86K above.

  • Short squeeze zone: arturillo955 says a modeled cluster of short liquidations sits near $84.8K. These are modeled levels, not realized losses.

Market context

Fear & Greed is 59 (Neutral) and BTC dominance is about 59.2% (CoinMarketCap).

The sources do not say whether the sweep marks the end of the correction. That depends on whether price holds above $83K in the coming sessions.
