OpenAI announced GPT-6.1 Terra on Oct 26, 2026 as a fast, capable computer-use model for agentic work, computer control and everyday coding (post).

It understands what is on screen, takes action across apps and writes naturally for workday tasks, from interpreting drawings and drafting proposals to filling forms and editing video.

OpenAI says it substantially beats GPT-5.6 Terra on Agents Last Exam, matches GPT-6 Astra at one-tenth the price per token, and finishes tasks over 3x faster than Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol (post). Other benchmarks cited put Terminal-Bench 4.0 at 50.3% vs 21.5% for GPT-5.6 Terra.

API price cited is $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens, half the price of GPT-5.6 Terra.

It is rolling out now to all Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, plus API as gpt-6.1-terra (post), as also flagged by MTSlive. Commentators note OpenAI still positions Sol or Astra for complex coding.
