Conduit sued Tether in New York federal court after Tether froze about $2.76 million in USDT in September 2025. Conduit says the freeze was tied to a Brazilian police investigation of former client Onix, but that its treasury wallet was created after Onix left, never held Onix’s funds, and was not flagged by Brazilian authorities. Conduit alleges Tether’s T3 unit selected the wallets to freeze. The Defiant, OffshoreAlert’s case listing
Conduit is asking the court to restore access and award damages, including at least the frozen amount, and seeks an accounting of income earned on the reserves backing the tokens. It says losing the operating capital disrupted settlements and forced layoffs and office closures. These are allegations and requested remedies; the case filing itself does not mean Conduit has won or that Tether must release the tokens. The Defiant, Decrypt
As of the latest reports dated October 6–7, Tether had not unfrozen the funds, and no court ruling ordering their release was reported. The USDT therefore remained inaccessible to Conduit; whether it will be returned, and whether Conduit will recover damages or reserve income, remains for the lawsuit to resolve.
