Anthropic says it acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person biotech developing treatments for two rare forms of muscular dystrophy, and is now running its own drug discovery programs, per its Oct 27 post and research page.
Founder Cody Tranbarger used Claude to coordinate contracts, logistics and experiments with 11 external labs, taking one antibody program from idea to promising results in mice in under 18 months, per wallstengine's summary.
Tranbarger is continuing the work inside Anthropic. Anthropic says a candidate could be ready to start human trials as early as late 2028 if results hold up.
It also announced deep research partnerships with six organizations: Generate Biomedicines, Divergence Labs, BigHat Biosciences, Enveda, The Column Group and Bristol Myers Squibb, spanning drug design, manufacturing, regulatory docs and trial planning.
Most of the work remains preclinical. Price and other acquisition terms were not disclosed in the sources.
