Tether reported $1.5B in Q3 2026 net operating profit, roughly flat quarter over quarter, with $4.5B for the first nine months, driven mostly by U.S. Treasury bills and reverse repos.
The figures come from its Q3 attestation prepared by BDO as of September 30, 2026, published October 30, 2026. WuBlockchain summarized the attestation, and Cointelegraph flagged the profit and doubling buffer.
Tether said USDT issuance held broadly steady at about $184B, with total reserve assets of $191.5B against $183.5B in liabilities. Its own statement puts assets at $191,451,091,374 and liabilities at $183,496,460,904, leaving $7,954,630,470 in excess. Details are in Tether's announcement.
The excess reserve buffer nearly doubled to $7.95B from $4.1B at end of Q2, up $3.8B. Direct and indirect U.S. Treasury bill holdings totaled $132.4B, held mostly in liquid short-duration instruments.
CEO Paolo Ardoino said the $1.5B profit with nearly $8B in excess reserves gives Tether liquidity for redemptions and long-term infrastructure work amid geopolitical stress.
