Samsung Wallet adds USDC, powered by Coinbase: what was announced and when it starts
Coinbase announced on Oct 8, 2026 that USDC will be added to Samsung Wallet as its first supported stablecoin, powered by Coinbase, "available soon in the US" (@coinbase). Partner announcements put the start in the last week of October 2026, for eligible US Galaxy users.
What Coinbase said
@coinbase posted: "Your Samsung Wallet is getting an upgrade." Its legal note says availability is subject to eligibility and terms, and that USDC is issued by Circle and is not FDIC or SIPC insured.
Brian Armstrong wrote that Coinbase is working with Samsung to bring USDC to Samsung Wallet, powered by Coinbase.
@CoinbaseDev said the infrastructure is powered by USDC and Coinbase Prime custody, and that the stablecoin tooling will also be available to developers.
@CoinbaseInsto said 82M+ US Galaxy users have access to Samsung Wallet and that Samsung chose Coinbase Prime as custodian.
Timing and scope from the partners
The Solana Foundation press release says Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support stablecoins on Solana. Users in the US can send money across borders using USDC from the last week of October 2026. It also describes integrated fiat on and off-ramps, 82 million US Galaxy devices at launch, and other markets later, subject to local regulation.
The Sui Foundation blog says USDC on Sui will also be supported. USDC is the only supported asset at launch, the SUI token is not supported, and transfers are gasless, so users need no SUI.
Social posts say Bastion handles custody and compliance, with Coinbase as secondary custodian, and that transfers can reach bank accounts in 60+ countries. These details come from user summaries such as this one, not from Coinbase's own posts.
Not established
Coinbase's own blog post was not readable, so the exact custody structure and fees are unconfirmed. The wallet's custodial status, a firm launch date and the dates for other markets are also unconfirmed.
