Paxos Crypto Brokerage now supports XRP: what was announced and what it means for XRP

Paxos added XRP to its regulated Crypto Brokerage platform on 7 Oct 2026. Partners can now offer XRP trading, custody, deposits and withdrawals. This widens institutional access to XRP, but the market did not react with a rally: XRP traded near $1.42 on 8 Oct, about 5% lower over 24 hours.

What happened

  • Paxos announced it on X at 13:20 UTC on 7 Oct: "Paxos Crypto Brokerage now supports $XRP."

  • Paxos cited XRP's history (in circulation since 2012), 8.1M+ wallets and a market cap of nearly $95B. These are Paxos's own figures.

  • Paxos said partners can offer XRP "through the same regulated platform trusted by some of the biggest names in finance."

  • CoinDesk, Cointelegraph and CoinAsia reported it that evening. CoinAsia added that the integration expands institutional access to XRP and gives platforms on Paxos infrastructure more flexibility.

  • It follows a similar addition: Paxos announced HYPE support on 1 Oct. Paxos appears to be adding large-cap assets to the brokerage one after another.

What it means for XRP

  • It is a distribution gain, not a new product. Fintechs and brokerages that already use Paxos can add XRP without building their own custody and trading stack.

  • The size of the effect depends on which partners switch XRP on. None had been named in the sources at the time of writing.

  • Paxos is a regulated issuer and infrastructure provider. Its support adds institutional credibility, but it does not by itself create buying demand.

Market reaction

Across the exchanges polled, XRP was at about $1.42 on 8 Oct (for example Binance spot 1.4201 USDT), down about 5.1% over 24 hours. The spread across venues was small, about 0.14% on spot. The news was not enough to offset the wider move, and the data does not show what the price would have done without it.

Not established

The sources do not name any partner going live with XRP, give fee terms, or show any flow of funds attributable to the listing.
