Starknet is running a first non-binding governance poll on whether to explore becoming an independent post-quantum L1, opened Oct 15 for STRK stakers and delegators via Snapshot and detailed in this forum post. StarkWare announced it here and Starknet here. As of the morning of Oct 18 UTC voting is still open with about 5 days left and closes around Oct 22. The interim signal reported by StarkWare is 99.95% of voting power cast so far in favor of exploring the L1 path. A Day 1 tally cited 291.5M STRK for versus 155,200 against or 0.05% in this post, repeated as 99.95% with 5 days left here. The poll only approves research into the move, not the move itself. If Yes wins, research starts toward detailed proposals and polls. If No, post-quantum work continues as an L2. Fixed so far: STRK remains the token with no new token, and Ethereum to Starknet bridges stay open. STRK traded near $0.0638 to $0.0639 on Oct 18, down about 11% on the day across Binance, OKX, MEXC, Gate, KuCoin and Kraken listings.
