An institution lost about $2.84M on BSC on Oct 8, 2026 in a suspected SquidSquad theft reported by ZachXBT and relayed by Coin Bureau and ZachXBT investigations.

On Oct 20 the thief put 1,111.2 ETH through Tornado Cash and withdrew to 0xb8b3…1459, 0x35c7…80bfe and 0x8e4a…7e848, all tagged Tornado Cash Recipient.

Those wallets swapped ETH to USDT and bridged Ethereum to Tron via USDT0/LayerZero, for example 238,586 USDT and 261,366 USDT.

Funds consolidated at Tron TEvUsnwXvprdvB7eNGiqh6rDiMqFiC8TBU and TVxzjnx3GPDTciiuagXPaUbU5f5y13Voux per the report.

Within minutes they moved through intermediaries to Chinese OTCs, likely to beat a possible Tether freeze.

Both Tron addresses had exposure to previously attributed DPRK addresses, per ZachXBT.

Victim was 0x579b…ff153 and theft address was 0x049b…7e80.

Attribution to SquidSquad/DPRK and the OTC identities rest on the investigator claim, on-chain counterparty names for the Tron to OTC hops were not independently verified here.
