Binance hot wallets were drained of about $6.3B on Oct 29, mostly in around 20 minutes across 10 chains, in what Binance and analysts describe as the largest crypto hack on record, topping the $1.5B Bybit hack.

Binance says the entry was a compromised DevOps laptop reaching an internal service that could request withdrawal signatures, later adding more breach points and calling it a complex attack, with no evidence so far of wallet private keys leaking. TRM Labs and Chainalysis attribute it with high confidence to North Korea's TraderTraitor group.

About $3B is frozen on chain via Tether, Circle, Ripple, World Liberty and others, per Binance, meaning blacklisted in place, not yet recovered. About $3.3B including 167,000 ETH and about 18,270 BTC remains unfrozen.

Binance says it reserved over $6.34B of company funds, $5B already held in the impacted tokens, and will cover all losses via SAFU plus company funds. Withdrawals remain paused for a withdrawal-service revamp, expected back in about 45 hours from the Oct 30 update, while deposits work normally.

Bitcoin traded near $76,682 on Binance spot at 19:40 UTC Oct 30, down about 5.2% in 24h.
