Google announced that SynthID Detector is now open to everyone worldwide in English. At synthid.com, users can check image, video and audio files for SynthID watermarks from Google and partners OpenAI, NVIDIA and Kakao, with Apple support coming soon (Google DeepMind; Google; Google’s explainer).
Google says the detector can identify its watermarks after edits such as filters. It reported watermarking more than 180 billion images and videos and 240,000 years of audio; its existing verification features in Search, Gemini and Chrome handle over 1 million requests daily (Google DeepMind; Google’s explainer).
A SynthID result checks for a watermark; Google’s announcement does not establish that content without one is human-made or that the detector covers every AI system.
