Meanwhile

Meanwhile

Meanwhile is a Bermuda-based, Bitcoin-denominated life insurer. On October 8, 2026, it announced a $37.5 million funding round led by Bain Capital Crypto, bringing total capital raised to more than $180 million, according to Meanwhile’s announcement on X. Co-founder Zac Townsend said the funding will support expansion across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East in his post.

How the policy works

Meanwhile says its BTC Life 1-Pay policy takes a single premium in Bitcoin and guarantees a Bitcoin death benefit for life. It describes the product as whole life insurance denominated in BTC, with premiums invested in high-credit-quality fixed-income assets. The company says it is licensed and regulated by the Bermuda Monetary Authority. These product details and regulatory statements come from Meanwhile’s website.

Distribution and growth

Townsend said the company had signed 15 brokers serving wealthy families, including in Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE, and Switzerland. He also said premium revenue was on track to more than double in 2026, as stated in his October 8 post. Meanwhile’s account separately said it had more than 1,183 BTC in audited assets in 2025, up 437% over that year, in its May 26 post.
