Bithumb disclosed an unauthorized external intrusion into its internal corporate groupware (DaouOffice) for about one hour on October 27.

The breached system held personal data for 6,444 customers, including names, mobile numbers, resident registration numbers, bank account numbers and ID copies. Bithumb said 5,600 of those records stayed encrypted and unreadable, while data for 844 customers was directly exposed, plus records of 715 employees and external personnel, as detailed by WuBlockchain.

Bithumb said the groupware is isolated from its trading and asset systems, so customer funds were not impacted. It said it notified authorities and will fully compensate verified damages.
