Samsung Wallet x Sui: USDC for U.S. Galaxy users. What it is and when it launches

Samsung Wallet is adding USDC on Sui for eligible Galaxy users in the U.S. (82 million devices), with gasless transfers. The launch is planned for late October 2026. No exact day has been published.

What it is

The Sui Foundation's announcement, dated October 8, 2026, says Galaxy users in the U.S. will be able to hold USDC in Samsung Wallet and send it over the Sui network. USDC is the only supported asset at launch. The SUI token is not supported in Samsung Wallet.

Gasless transfers

According to the same post, Sui's gasless transaction infrastructure lets supported applications offer USDC transfers without the sender holding SUI or paying a network fee. The post presents remittances as the main use case, citing over 1.3 billion people who sent or received remittances in the last year.

When

  • October 8, 2026: the integration was announced by @SuiNetwork.

  • Late October 2026: the U.S. launch, according to The Defiant. This is a plan, not a confirmed date.

  • Later: expansion to other markets. The Sui blog says the rollout starts in the U.S. and then moves to additional markets. @SuiNetworkCN says global expansion will come gradually. No timeline is given.

Custody and fees

The Defiant reports that Bastion and Coinbase will custody the balances. Transfers to bank accounts in more than 60 countries will carry separate fees, so the zero-fee claim covers USDC transfers on Sui, not bank payouts.

Caveats

The 82 million figure counts U.S. Galaxy devices. The Defiant says "eligible" users, so not every device is guaranteed access at launch. The gasless claims come from Sui and Samsung-side announcements and have not been tested on-chain, since the service is not live yet.
