Reports on Oct 30 say the U.S. Secret Service is working with private-sector partners including Circle to identify, freeze, trace and recover funds stolen from Binance, in an early-stage probe coordinating with the U.S. Attorney's Office for D.C.
The claim started as crypto-account posts by WatcherGuru, pete_rizzo_ and CryptosR_Us, then pete_rizzo_ pointed to Reuters: "FBI, US Secret Service working with Binance after $6.3 billion hack, source says."
Other X summaries of that reporting put Circle's part at about $823M in USDC frozen, alongside over 1.567B USDT frozen by Tether, toward about $3B frozen overall from the roughly $6.3B Oct 29 drain.
Circle itself had posted nothing about the freeze on @circle as of Oct 29 19:00 UTC, and the sources do not name recovered amounts returned to users yet.
