## Stripe planning: stablecoin cards to 100+ countries by year-end
Stripe plans to expand its stablecoin card programs to more than 100 countries by end of 2026, new crypto head Henri Stern told CoinDesk in an interview published Oct 5, 2026.
Who is leading: Stern — co-founder of Privy, acquired by Stripe — now oversees stablecoins and crypto at Stripe.
Current customers named: Kraken, Ramp and Morse.
Market context cited: Stablecoin card spending reached ~$1.2 billion last month, ~3x a year earlier, according to Paymentscan.
Strategy: Connect stablecoins with Stripe's existing card and payments infrastructure, letting businesses serve customers cross-border without learning a separate crypto stack. Stern said Stripe will remain stablecoin- and blockchain-agnostic.
Also exploring: tokenized deposits, DeFi use cases, and accepting more digital assets as payments — but Stern said *"by and far, the bulk of our work happens with stablecoins."*
Quote: *"We have to cater to folks who are here for stablecoins only, and we have to cater for millions of users of Stripe who are just using fiat rails... our users get to mix and match their stack in exactly the way they want."*
