Samsung Wallet and USDC: is the forwarded news true, and what are the terms?
Conclusion
The news is essentially true. Samsung Wallet will add USDC transfers for eligible US Galaxy users in the last week of October 2026. It is not live yet. The forwarded posts that say "Samsung partners with Solana" overstate it, because Solana and Sui are both named networks. The "82 million" figure counts compatible devices, not users.
What is confirmed
Coinbase posted that USDC will be added to Samsung Wallet as the first supported stablecoin, "powered by Coinbase", available soon in the US. CoinbaseDev cites Coinbase Prime custody.
Sui's blog (2026-10-08) says USDC is the only supported asset at launch and the SUI token is not supported. The rollout starts in the US before other markets. Transfers on Sui are gasless.
The Solana account announced the same launch for the last week of October on 82 million US Galaxy devices.
Terms as summarised from Samsung's release
Samsung's page itself could not be opened, so these come from secondary summaries of it (cryptonewsfeeds, amonyconnect, a Telegram digest).
Two transfer paths. The first goes to compatible crypto wallets and exchanges, with no Samsung fee. Recipient and network fees can still apply. The second pays eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries, converted to local currency, with fees. The country list and the bank fee levels are not in the release.
Eligibility. Adult US residents with a compatible Galaxy on Android 13 or later, after identity verification. A transfer must start from a registered device and needs biometrics.
Roles. Bastion is the licensed custodian and runs accounts and customer checks. Coinbase Prime holds the USDC. Users do not hold keys, and no separate crypto app is needed. Samsung says it is not a bank, payment operator or custodian and does not hold customer funds.
Later, no dates. Stablecoin payments online and in stores, and more markets, are described as possible.
What to check
Whether the feature actually goes live in the last week of October, and the real bank-payout fees once published.
The sources do not give the bank fee levels, the country list, or how volume will split between Solana and Sui. I found no post from a Samsung account itself, only the page it is said to be based on.
