Pyth DAO "100% Rule": what changed and what it means for PYTH
The Pyth DAO has approved a rule that sends every dollar it receives from Pyth products to open-market PYTH purchases. The earlier framework used one third of its non-PYTH balance. Pyth's announcement is dated Oct 8, 2026. PYTH trades near $0.080, about 13% higher over 24h, but the sources do not tie the move to the news.
What the rule is
Per the announcement:
All money the DAO receives from Pyth products goes to the PYTH Reserve and is used to buy PYTH on the open market.
The old cap was one third of the DAO's non-PYTH balance.
One standing authorization replaces the monthly vote.
The guardrails stay the same. Every acquisition is still published onchain and reported monthly.
Why now
Pyth's Q3 recap says it ended Q3 at $11.49M active ARR, up 86.5% quarter over quarter, across 276 paying accounts. It names exchanges, prediction markets and AI as the growth areas, and mentions Nasdaq Basic on the Data Marketplace. Pyth also announced it is an external distributor of Nasdaq Basic on Sep 22. Before the news, a post on X (Oct 1) had hinted at value accrual news at Pyth Q3 Connect.
What it means for the token
PYTH gets a steady, rules-based buyer. Buying no longer depends on a monthly vote, and it is no longer limited to a third of the balance.
The size is modest next to the market cap. This is my own illustration, not a result: if the full $11.49M ARR flowed to the DAO, that would be about $11.5M a year of buying. The market cap is about $631M (GeckoTerminal), so that is roughly 1.8% a year. The old one-third framework would have been about a third of that.
Daily PYTH volume is about $1.4M on Solana DEXs, so purchases would be a visible share of liquidity, but only if revenue keeps growing.
The effect depends on revenue. ARR is not the same as DAO receipts, and the sources do not give the exact amount the DAO receives or a purchase schedule.
Market now
Spot is about $0.0800 to $0.0805 across Binance, OKX, MEXC, Gate, KuCoin and Upbit, with Binance showing +13.1% over 24h. The asker's feed shows a market cap of $595M, and GeckoTerminal shows $631M.
What the sources do not establish
They do not give the start date of the purchases, the buyback wallet, the vote result, or the exact DAO revenue figure. The middle sections of both Pyth posts were not readable.
